Lamya Essemlali is co- founder and president of Sea Shepherd France, plus co- director of Sea Shepherd Global.
A Master of Environmental Sciences (Université Pierre et Marie Curie) and specialising in the Conservation of Biodiversity, Lamya Essemlali has participated and/or organised more than ten missions at sea on an international level: Antarctica (whaling), Galápagos Islands (protection of the Unesco-listed
marine park), Faroe Islands (greatest slaughter of marine mammals in Europe), Mediterranean (protection of blue-finned tuna, poaching… ), West Africa (largest illegal fishing zone in the world, plundered by foreign fishing fleets).
She hosts numerous conferences on the theme of ocean protection, either on her own or along with Captain Paul W atson, for whom she also interprets. Lamya Essemlali is also the author of a book of conversations
